Hyundai Grand Creta 1.5D Elite Test Review
Following on from the very recent SA launch, we put the top spec diesel powered Elite model through a full test regime.
As at the launch, the space added by the extra length is a boon for extra loading space plus the option of carrying 7 passengers is only offered by very few competitors at this price level.
Although the world has turned against diesel power, the fuel efficiency cannot be beaten. 5.2l/100km on a long trip and then 5.6 for the overall test period is proof of the fact. The 1.5l diesel may say 84kW and 250Nm on paper but it feels more than adequate in every situation including overtaking on the open road.
Of course, Elite gives a full luxury and safety spec package but you "could" go to Executive level with the same powertrain and sacrifice a few niceties while saving R50 000 off the retail price.
As tested, the current price is R559 900 and this includes a 4 year/ 60000km service plan plus the Hyundai 7 year/ 200 000km warranty.
