Kia Carnival Review
The latest version of the large MPV was launched recently by Kia SA.
The Carnival is a vehicle that's perfectly suited to luxury travel for a large family or as an executive business shuttle for VIP's. Especially if you're piloting the top spec SXL model that boasts every possible luxury plus the 2 individual Captains chairs in the middle row.
All models in the range are powered by the 2.2l 4cylinder turbodiesel that provides 148kW and 440Nm to the front wheels through a very smooth 8 speed automatic transmission. This provides smooth, comfortable cruising ability in all conditions and even returned fuel economy of around 7.5l/100km for my test period.
Apart from the multi-adjustable captains chairs with a large gap between for passengers to reach the 3rd row seats, the carnival has large sliding doors on both sides for easy access. These were powered on the top model allowing you to open or close from the key fob or using buttons behind the steering wheel.
Every possible luxury is added as you would expect from a vehicle in this category include USB ports for middle and 3rd row seats. There are 2 sunroofs above the front and 3rd row seats, interestingly the middle row doesn't benefit from this.
Space is the name of the game with stretch out space for every passenger plus the unusual bonus of a large boot even with a full compliment of passengers.
The Carnival is priced from R799 995 up to R1 024 995 as tested. A 6 year/ 90 000km maintenance plan is included.
